    Yoga and Acupuncture w/ Tatum

    Sunday, May 11th | 7-8:30 pm | $40 or $70/ two people

Yoga and acupuncture are a match made in the chillest of heavens. Whether you’re new to acupuncture, yoga or you love them both, this is an accessible and affordable way to combine these two healing modalities at once, each month at Yess Yoga.

Together, the two complementary modalities will provide an opportunity for folks to relax and find balance. Tatum Fjerstad, a yoga teacher and licensed acupuncturist, will be leading the yoga and providing the acupuncture. All levels are welcome.

Masks are optional during yoga and required during the acupuncture portion.

This event will be split into three parts: time to discuss the current astrology, time to lay down and breathe together, and time after the breathing to share witness. No previous breathwork experience necessary. Wear comfy clothes, bring a yoga mat, an eye covering (mats and other props are also available onsite to borrow if needed!)

That Yoga Life: dinacharya, ṛtucharya, and yajña w/ Karin Lynn Carlson

    Sunday, May 18th | 2-4 pm | $40 or $75 for two people

Anybody who starts to practice in a dedicated way starts to feel that yoga is everywhere.  Everything about yoga seems a little sacred.  Yoga is more than a stretch; it’s about our soul.  Yoga is more than an hour or two on the mat, it’s our fundamental relationships to time, purpose, and relationships.
    .
Come learn about the practices of an aesthetic, yogic life in daily, ritual, and personal journey paradigms known in the tradition as dinacharya, ṛtucharya, and yajña.  We’ll discuss lostness, too.  We can also reclaim yoga from the fitness industry and Ayurveda from lists of food rules.By learning the traditional models, we’ll also have an opportunity to discuss identity and personal transformation.
    .
Karin Lynn Carlson (she/her) ups the ante on yoga conversations and offers yoga teachings that honor yoga tradition.  She’s committed to disrupting the co-option of the practices of Black, Indigenous, and WoC for white wellness and spirituality. She is unraveling the dominant narrative both in her own body and in wider yoga culture. Karin is an acharya within the living Desikachar lineage, and is uniquely positioned to transmit lineaged teachings without upholding the harms of patriarchy, cultural appropriation, and colonialism. Karin (like you put the car in the garage) lives on unneeded Lakota territory, North Minneapolis.

          Intro to Somatics with Emily

          Saturday, June 14th | 1:30-3:30 pm | $35 or $60/two people

Join this workshop to learn about somatics, how to work with and through the body to heal our trauma, conditioning, patterns, pains, and anything getting in our way of living the life we truly desire. We will discuss how through working with and through the body we can find wisdom, connection, and joy in our life.

We will look at how mental patterns, mindset, shapes we carry ourselves in, language, background, conditioning, and more affect us and our wellbeing. All of these show us how we are finding safety, connection, and belonging in the world. This class will discuss how we are currently doing these and explore ways in which we could find these things more in alignment with what we truly want, value, and care about. You will also be guided into your body to heal and find wisdom there.

Summer Solstice: Movement, Yoga Nidra & Sound Bath w/ Elisabeth and Michele

            Friday, June 20th | 6:30-8:30 pm | $50 or $95/two people

Summer Solstice represents the time in the Northern hemisphere that the Sun is at its highest point. It is closest to the tropic of Cancer, thus falls into the sign of Cancer. It is a time of festivity and magic. A time to celebrate growth and prosperity. On this year’s solstice, the Moon will be in the sign of Taurus with its governess (Venus) also in the sign of Taurus, bringing the tune of sensuality, generosity, and joy of the creature comforts. Under the skies, we will gather and rejoice.  We will start by warming the body with 21 sun salutations to salute the Sun; this movement will be led from a place of permission and will offer options to adapt to meet each individual where they are at in their practice. Then we will rest the mind with yoga nidra and sound bowls. Following this, we will immerse the body, mind and soul in the healing vibrations of the Gong – the call home for the soul. To end, we will gather in circle for an opportunity to share, reflect and engage with our fellow human hearts, as Cancer is the sign of the people, the home, and the heart.
For the Gong bath, please bring a head covering (hat, beanie, scarf, bandana, etc). Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in and please bring a water bottle.

Breathwork and Astrology w/ Amy and Lacey

            Saturday, June 28th | 6-8 pm | $40 or $75/two people

Join Amy Kuretsky, from Constellation Acupuncture & Healing Arts, and  Lacey Prpić Hedtke, from The Future, for a special  astrology and group breathwork event at Yess Yoga. Breathwork is a powerful experiential tool and process that allows deep self-exploration and transformation. Breathwork uses only the power of our own breath with the support of music and a group dynamic to access a non-ordinary state of consciousness.  with an intentional breathing practice to go within into the deepest parts of ourselves and witness whatever we find there with love and compassion.

There’s significant power in coming together in a sacred container to breathe and open our hearts together as a group. This group dynamic allows you to care for yourself while you care for your community through group healing. Because this process can bring up intense emotions and strong physical experiences, please understand that issues arising from participation in Breathwork may require additional therapeutic or supportive interventions. If you are in the first trimester of pregnancy, have a recent TBI or history with seizures, retinal detachment, or any other significant health issue you’d like Amy to be aware of, please make this information known to her prior to your participation. As always, please feel empowered to discuss breathwork with your physician if you are concerned about participating for any reason.
